Mechanics Fluids Mechanics; Numerical Analysis and Computational Modeling The Mechanics Group is dedicated to studying problems of Fluid Mechanics of flows of complex materials and problems of Voice Modeling. In the line of Fluid Mechanics, the group focus on the stability and bifurcations of particulate, granular and magnetic fluid flows. We are interested in understanding the nonlinearities that arise both from the fluid (in general, non-Newtonian) and from the flow (boundary conditions, external forcing, etc). In the line of Voice Modeling, the group focus on modeling of the vocal chords by means of coupled nonlinear harmonic oscillators and we studied the stability and bifurcations of this system, trying to associate them with the voice production. These problems are studied in a theoretical (analytical) framework (linear and nonlinear stability analyses, perturbation methods, conservation laws, etc.) as well as in a numerical/computational framework (finite differences, molecular dynamics, Lattice Boltzmann, neural networks, etc).
